SS: .. Jo, det er nok garden Stueland i Sveio. men er det nokon som kjenner slekta hennar - ta gjerne kontakt
E-mail: Steinar, Thanks for the email. I think I have Bjarn's last name wrong. I will give you some history. Asselina Anfinson Domersness married Anfin Svensbo. They had 2 children Sigvart (1903-1948) and Endre. Endre was born in 1907 and married Bertha Servaag. Sigvart married Ingeborg Guddel Senfjor. They had 5 children. Anna Marie (1940) married Harold Bjornik. Ingeborg (1965) has died. Sigvart (1967), Lars (1969) and Bjarn 1974. I was wondering if any of these relative of mine still live in the Vikebygd area. If so we would love to look them up when we are in the area. We will be in the area around July 21. Thanks you for your time. Steve Hanson
I have located your relatives in Vikebygd to be the Bjørnevik family and
gave your information to them.
Steve Hanson and his wife visited Vikebygd in July 2012.
Sincerely,
John Kiel
SS Comment:
I have now send new copies of the pictures.
Anyone else that know this family or farm in Sveio (former: Vestre Vikebygd)
Sincerely,
Sonia Gregerson Meyer, Hacienda Heights, California (a suburb of Los Angeles),
SS Comment: Sveio (Sveen) and Vikebygd were up to 1964 two parts of
the same municipality! I will look up available databases and hope to find
the information you need.
You may try to search in the
Digitalarkivet
SS Comment: Very soon I got phonecalls and emails from people who could tell me the names and the story of these people. Thank you all.
SS Comment: Other members of the Alne family has written in this guestbook too.
SS Comment: Interesting.
SS Comment: I know the Alne family in Vikebygd and I think that your name and relatives are known here already. I'll tell them that you wrote in my guestbook and pass on the information.
SS Comment: Well. With good help from "Digitalarkivet" (the "Digital
Archive" on Internet) and local people, her relatives in Vikebygd were traced. The farm is
Leirhammer and the Bjørnevik family is a part of her family.
Endre Amundsen Dommersnæss
(b.1826/1829) lived with his wife Brita Ellingsdatter (b.1838) on the farm Leirhammer in year 1900.
Their children were: Amund b. 1856 (=Omen);
Erling Johan b. 1861; Aselina b. 1870;
Gurina b. 1875;
Svend b. 1877 (Last name: Endresen Dommernes).
------------------
In 1962 Endre Dommersnes (b.1907) lived on this farm together with his
wife Bertha Sørvåg. Endre was the son of Asseline Dommersnes and Anfin Svendsbø.
This is probably Aselina (b. 1870).
In the book: "Norske Gardsbruk" it is
written that Asseline D. baught the farm from Halvord
Svendsen in 1896. Her son Endre took over the farm in 1956.

Omen Enderson Dommersness had 12-13 children. His eldest daughter, Isabella,
lived until she was 109 years old.
Her son, Orwel Madson, is the father of Linda Reed.
SS Comment: We found her family in Vikebygd, and the farm where her
ancestors came from. It is still called Leirhammar.
ILinda came to Norway this summer and visited Vikebygd and some of her
relatives.
My mother's family came from the farm Kike (Kjeka) in the parish of Fjelberg, but it had a connection from the Tindeland farm. Her ancestor, Gjert Hansen (1829-1902), son of Hans Jørgensen, had to leave the farm to look for work because he was not the oldest son. At the Qvamme farm, he met and married Petrine Torsteinsdatter Iversøy (1829-1891), from the parish of Stord, in 1855. She was the widow of Gunder Gundersen Tindeland (ca 1821-1854), the son of Gunder Eriksen Tindeland. With him, she had three children, Gunder (1850-1930), Ingeborg (born 1852) and Gunvor Serine (1854-1930). In 1859, the family, including the children, went to Canada and lived with the other Norwegians in Quebec until 1865, when the American Civil War was over. They then moved to the USA and took Hanson as their surname. They lived on a farm north of Viroqua in Wisconsin for 13 years, from 1865 to 1878. In 1878, they moved for the last time - to a farm east of Flandreau in Dakota Territory (now South Dakota). That was where Gjert and Petrine died. Together they had seven children, and their second son was my great grandfather, Tonnes "Tom" Hanson (1865-1956).
My mother remembers that her grandfather had a picture of his parents on the wall of his living room but she does not know who now has that picture. I do not know exactly how I am related to you because I have never seen those books about the farms of Kvinnherad and Ølen. But if you do know, please tell me! My mother and I would like very much to know!
SS Comment: It looks like there will be several ancestor lines in Vikebygd and the local area. We keep looking.
